11 ideas for adding style to a TV in a small room
Nowadays, it is difficult to imagine a living room that is not equipped with a television: it is an indispensable form of entertainment, and is now connected to many other services that go beyond the mere "cable" programming of the past. So, almost always, a TV screen dominates one of our rooms. But what type of screen and on what wall?
There are ways to ensure that the TV matches the decor of the room designed for entertainment and relaxation. Below are some useful ideas you can consider:
There are some TVs that look like paintings, complete with a frame: so, why not "camouflage" the TV among other framed paintings, illustrations or prints? You could choose a screen to keep visible when the TV is on standby, and then it becomes a work of art too.
There are those who instead add an elaborate frame, like one from an old painting, to transform the TV in a very artistic way.
If you want your living room to have an accent wall, then consider selecting the one behind the TV: a dark color will make it much easier to blend in. And a different finish (bricks, for example), will make it look more interesting.
It is true that, nowadays, TVs are flat screens with a minimal design, and are decorative in themselves. But if you don't like the idea of having a television that stands out in any room, a dark wall behind it will make it much less visible when it is not on.
Do you want a large screen, but in reality there is no space on the wall without displacing other furniture? Maybe putting the TV in the corner and rearranging the furniture could help!
Another idea that makes the TV seem to naturally belong to the environment, is to place it in a custom-made space created inside a niche in the wall.
These are TV niches, which can be made from bricks (or better still, with plasterboard), or even inside a furniture unit.
They could, therefore, be the space at the center of a full bookcase.
And if you don't like the idea of seeing the screen surrounded by many shapes and colors, then, for the viewing time, the bookcase could be made with customised doors.
As for the lighting, it's nice to see some sort of backlighting in the alcoves around the TV.
Additionally, it could be an idea to install designer lights on both sides of the screen, which project the light downwards (and/or upwards) and not forwards.
