When we enter the bathroom, it is easy be drawn to the mirror: both because it usually strategically located and its size. It goes without saying, therefore, that if the mirror is full of toothpaste splashes, traces of limescale, streaks left over from the last time we cleaned it, or maybe even covered in fingerprints, this can be very off-putting.

So how can we clean the mirror properly, then? It will be necessary to dissolve the dirt using some suitable product. And in addition to specific products we can get in the shops, there are many traditional, DIY methods that can come in handy. Some of them also have the advantage of leaving a pleasant scent throughout the bathroom. Read on to find out more:

  • Lemon juice: Lemon juice works well on glass and metal to clean them and make them shine again. For this, you can squeeze one lemon into a small bowl, and then dilute it with a little water (no more than a proportion of 1:1, i.e. in equal parts). Then dip a sponge or microfiber cloth in the mixture and then pass it over the mirror.
  • Talcum powder: Fill a spray bottle with 350 ml of warm water, then pour in 1 tablespoon of talcum powder into it. Close, shake well and spray on a microfibre cloth (or a cloth used for glass) and rub over the mirror. Have another clean, dry cloth ready, to pass over the glass when it is dry to remove any residue.
  • Citric acid: To get a citrus-like smell, you can also dissolve a tablespoon or two of citric acid in 350ml of hot water, pour this into a spray bottle and use like a regular glass cleaner. If you want, add two tablespoons of denatured alcohol for extra cleaning power.
  • We all know that vinegar is also an excellent ally for cleaning windows, but it has a slightly unpleasant smell: this smell disappears after a while, but if you want a pleasant scent to linger, you could add 3 or 5 drops of an essential oil to the vinegar.

If you also have a window in the bathroom, you can use the same methods to clean the glass.
