An IKEA hack: How to create a multi-purpose desk for a kid's room
The children's room is usually the one that needs the most organization. It has to meet the needs of children undergoing continuous growth and transformation, and often hosts more than one child, making a properly arranged children's room vital.
Creativity and organization are the keywords when it comes to furniture for the children's rooms.
What if we told you that with just two IKEA products and a little creativity it is possible to create a perfect, multipurpose desk for the children's room? Read on to find out more:
Furnishing and interior decorating tips are provided by TikTokker @elocinhome, and she has shared a video in which she shows how, with two IKEA frames, a drill and a few screws, you can create an incredibly useful piece of furniture. It is a desk, with built-in shelves and is really perfect (and very beautiful) for a children's room.
If you want to get try this, you need:
- Two structures/frames with wooden shelves and TROFAST toy boxes from IKEA
- An EKBACKEN worktop from IKEA
- A drill and screws
To make this desk, you need to take the two wooden structures with shelves and place them at the ends of the wall. This furniture consists of compartments of different heights, joined together to form a type of staircase. By positioning them with the highest part towards the corner of the room and the lowest one towards the inside, you will have the possibility of placing the worktop on the intermediate part of the structures, or on the second compartment. That's where you will secure it with the drill and screws, creating a wonderful desk.
What you will get will be, in fact, a structure complete with a worktop for reading or studying and compartments with drawers for storing toys for the little ones and other personal effects or books for school-age children. It will therefore be a multi-purpose piece of furniture suitable for little ones from an early age, but also for when they get older.
If you think this is something you need, all you need to do is watch the video to understand how to proceed.
Great job!
