Sink marred with grime and limescale? You can make it look like new again in just 3 steps

Stainless steel kitchen sinks are shiny and beautiful when new, but with the constant use of water - especially if it is particularly calcareous - and the dirt generated by daily activities, they risk becoming truly horrible to look at and even unhygienic.

In some cases, a film of grime and limescale forms on the steel surfaces that completely defaces them. This is really a shame as stainless steel can look beautiful. Fortunately, there is something we can do about this.

With little time and the right methods, an apparently irrecoverable stainless steel sink can shine again - so much so that it will look like it has just been bought. You can find out how to do this by continuing to read on:

Carolina McCauley is a content creator with a large following on various social media channels about cooking, cleaning and home economics tips. On her Instagram account (@carolina.mccauley), she shows us the ideal method to clean a stainless steel sink that is really filthy. This procedure can be easily summarized takes just 3 steps:

  1. Get yourself a disk of soapy steel wool and start by vigorously rubbing the entire surface of the sink to remove the dirt and limescale. After treating all parts, rinse off thoroughly.
  2. After this first step, use a descaling powder detergent, spreading it where you notice dirt and limescale residue that is proving stubbon to remove. Scrub carefully again, using an abrasive sponge or a steel wool pad and then rinse off again.
  3. At this point, take a clean microfiber cloth and pour a few drops of moisturizing baby oil onto it. Rub the cloth over the entire surface of the sink, drying it and polishing it.

Your sink will be incredibly shiny again without much effort. If you'd like to see this method demonstrated step by step, check out the video here (or on @carolina.mccauley's IG account).

Good luck!
