Forget everyday problems: 18 people who found creative solutions
In daily life, we often have to deal with small problems that make us waste precious time. And just as often, we wonder if there is a more practical or faster way to carry out long or boring daily tasks and quickly dispense of annoying chores.
A creative approach to this kind of problem can prove to be a life-saver, helping us find solutions to these daily difficulties, and save us time and effort. Fortunately, for those of us lacking creativity, there is a wealth of information on the web: we present 18 photos below from people who have come up with some of these ingenious solutions.
1. No teaspoon
Are you in the office but have forgotten a teaspoon to eat your healthy yogurt-based snack with? No problem: take the foil that acts as the lid and, instead of throwing it in the trash, fold it into a spoon/shovel shape. It will be a perfect teaspoon!
2. Organized cables
You know the tangle of electrical cables behind desks in the office or at home? You can forget this forever using document clips! These objects can be creatively used for this purpose in two different ways: to keep the cables in the drawers neatly rolled up so they don't get tangled, or attached to the desk surface, to support them. Brilliant, right?
3. Single portions
How convenient it is to prepare meals in advance and freeze them! To avoid using all the containers in the house and to guarantee ready-to-use single portions, use silicone molds used to make ice cubes!
4. Broom holder
To keep your broom closet tidy and free up valuable floor space, make a wall-mounted broom holder out of a pool noodle.
5. Corkscrew
Do you have to open a bottle with a cork but can't find your corkscrew? Try with a knife and fork - they are excellent substitutes!
6. Finger guard
When you have to hammer a nail into any surface, avoid crushing your fingers with the help of a fine-toothed comb: it will be perfect for supporting the nail while safeguarding your digits!
7. Transfers
When a transfer of contents has to be made from a container with a wide opening, it is always difficult, if not impossible, to prevent part of the contents from spilling. For paint, for example, an excellent remedy is to apply two strips of masking tape on the opening of the can: they will guide the paint and stop it from spilling.
8. Tidy drawers
Having your wardrobe in tidy and your clothes always to hand is essential to stop wasting time when you get ready to go out in the morning. Optimizing space is just as important, especially when you have many clothes. So why not adopt a habit used for suitcases? Keep your trousers or shirts neatly rolled up and arranged side by side: they will be easy to find and you will have much more space in your drawers.
9. Ice and sugar or salt to remove stains
When you have to clean a bottle or container with a narrow neck, it is always difficult to reach the bottom and clean stains there. For effective cleaning, put ice in the container with sugar or salt. Shake the container several times in all directions and rinse: the cleaning will be perfect.
10. When an iron is not just for an ironing board
When you are on a business or leisure trip, it sometimes happens that you buy ready-made food to eat in your hotel room, to avoid the hassle of going out again after a long tiring day. But how can you heat your own food without a microwave oven? Simple: take an iron and run it over your foil-wrapped meal. It will heat up your meal in no time.
11. Ready-to-use spices
Do you have a lot of spices and are looking for a practical way to store them? Try hanging them inside the doors of your kitchen units using adhesive hooks: you will save space in the cabinet and your spices will always be close to hand.
12. Box holder
If you have cardboard boxes to throw away and don't know how to store them before taking them to the recycling center, try an old clothes horse frame. It will be perfect for this purpose.
13. The restorative walnut
To remove scratches from your wooden furniture, try rubbing a walnut on the scratches: the furniture will be as good as new.
14. Safety lid
If you need to close a tin lid securely, but you don't have gauze at home, you can use a mask; but please make sure it's unused!
15. DIY shoe rack
Why buy a shoe rack when you can easily make a DIY, personalized one out of pallets?
16. DIY ice
If you need ice but don't have it at home, make it with Orbeez spheres and a vacuum bag.
17. Anti-flooding scoop
If you have to defrost the freezer or clean the washing machine filter, you probably always wonder how to avoid flooding the floor. The solution is simple: put a scoop under the drain hole!
18. Keychain/holder
If you're tired of always looking for your house keys before going out, try attaching them to a magnet: you can always leave them stuck on the door's handle.
