Paper boats: 9 very simple and colorful projects, perfect for children

Not everyone can be an expert painter or an origami guru, but almost everyone, as a child, drew stylized boats at sea. And many learned how to fold a boat from a piece of paper. But with paper and cardboard, much more can be achieved, and without it being too difficult.

Paper plates, the cardboard tubes inside rolls of toilet paper, and other scraps are all easy-to-find materials which can be used to carry out creative projects with the kids. Check out the ideas below:

A paper plate is a ready-made picture frame: you just need to fill it with the desired shapes and colors, and the scene of a small boat on the waves will be perfect. A little water-color paints - or perhaps even food coloring - can create a small masterpiece to proudly display at home.

For a slightly more interactive project, you can draw the sky and the waves of the sea, then make a small cut in the waves, horizontally. Then insert an ice cream stick into the cut to make a whale (cut out of a sheet of paper) move up and down like it is swimming.

A three-dimensional collage: just cut, fold, glue, and pieces of colored paper can give life to a very cute scene.

Curled strips of paper become three-dimensional waves to give an extra touch to any picture.

Take a lid from some cardboard box and cover it with newspaper; and when it is dry, the kids can use it as the frame for their works of art.

With two paper plates, you can create a seabed scene to observe from above!

Learning to fold a piece of paper into the shape of a boat requires a bit of practice: when the little ones become masters, it will be fun to create boats of various sizes to be used in compositions of many types.

And did you know that even egg cartons can become boats?

A cardboard tube from the toilet paper roll, on the other hand, is perfect for turning into a lighthouse - which can then be used to enhance a nautical scene.

Are you ready to create fantastic marine worlds using paper?
