Deep-cleaning your clothes dryer following this tutorial is a snap
The clothes dryer is a very valuable appliance especially in the winter, when it allows us to reduce the drying time of the laundry to a minimum. It also allows us to avoid the hassle of having to hang up wet laundry around the house near radiators (if we can find any free). Furthermore, thanks to the dryer, we can prevent humidity build-up and the formation of mold in our home which wet laundry - hung up inside - can cause. For these reasons it is important to carry out the correct maintenance of this appliance so that it always performs optimally.
But are we really sure we know the correct procedure for cleaning a clothes dryer? The fundamental operation in this case is the removal of fluff from the two filters.
TikTokker, @morrisfamily_home, shows us in one of her videos how to thoroughly clean the dryer filters in order to keep it in top condition. We start with the first filter: the one at the mouth of the drum, which should be cleaned after each drying cycle. This filter can be easily removed and the fluff can be removed by hand or with the help of a vacuum cleaner.
The filter housing must also be cleaned of fluff with the help of the vacuum cleaner. The filter can be washed out under running water before reassembling it. The housing can be wiped down with a damp microfibre cloth.
The second filter, located in the exhaust, is a little more delicate but less subject to the accumulation of dirt and can be cleaned less frequently - every 8/10 drying cycles is recommended. This filter can also be removed and vacuumed with a vacuum cleaner, then washed under running water to remove all residue. The housing must also be cleaned with the help of a brush and a vacuum cleaner and then wiped down with a damp cloth. When finished, reassemble the filter.
With these simple steps, your dryer will always be perfectly clean and efficient! Check out the video to see the results.
