Effortlessly descale your kettle using a natural method

Electric kettles are very convenient whenever you want to prepare a hot drink quickly. Faster than a stove and more practical than a microwave oven, kettles can heat a large amount of water in a short time. As a result, they end up being used very often.

An inevitable consequence of frequent use is the formation of limescale inside the kettle: these mineral deposits appear as whitish stains and deposits inside the kettle, which, if left untreated can really build up into hard lumps (which are ugly to see and not at all healthy for us). To eliminate limescale from the kettle, you can use a simple tip. Read on to find out what it is:

This is a really fast and very popular method, shown in @resooma's TikTokker video. All you need is a lime or a lemon.

Here's the procedure:

  • Cut the lime/lemon into thin slices. Keep the ends to one side;
  • Fill the kettle to halfway with water;
  • Put the lime/lemon slices into the water;
  • Squeeze the juice from the two ends into the water;
  • Switch the kettle on and run it for one normal boiling cycle;
  • Turn off the appliance without opening it, and wait 10 minutes;
  • After 10 minutes, move over to the sink and shake the kettle a little so that the water inside rinses the walls, then pour all the liquid down the drain;
  • Fill the kettle again and start a second boiling cycle;
  • Empty a second time, and you will see that the limescale has disappeared.

You can see the results in this short video.

You can also try this method by two or three tablespoons of vinegar, or a couple of tablespoons of citric acid (dissolved in water beforehand, of course).

This simple technique will ensure your kettle lasts longer and is limescale free!
