No more ruined sweaters: discover how to hang them up easily on regular hangers
How often are we forced to fold up sweaters and keep them stored on shelves or inside drawers, because this is the only way for them to keep their shape? In fact, when they are hung on hangers, their weight causes them to stretch and pull themselves out of shape (no matter how wide and possibly even padded the hangers are).
However, folded sweaters in drawers or on the internal shelves of closets take up a lot of space because they are generally quite bulky items. There is an easy way, however, to be able to hang sweaters up without fear of ruining them, and this method works for cardigans too. Read on to find out more:
The method is really simple, and is also shown in many online videos, such as the one on @sistersquadllc's account on TikTok.
- First, you need to fold the sweater (or cardigan) in half vertically, joing the two sleeves together;
- Then, you place it on a flat surface (the bed or a table will do just fine);
- At this point, take the hanger in your hand and place it flat on top of the sweater, with the hook protruding from the corner formed by the sleeves uder the armpit.
- All that remains to do is to fold towards the center, around the hanger, the two sleeves together on one side, and the bottom of the sweater folded upward.
- If you want (for greater stability, and to prevent the sweater from slipping off the hanger when you remove other nearby garments from the wardrobe), you can tuck the sleeves and the bottom of the sweater into the triangle formed by the three sides of the hanger, as seen in this video.
This folding method saves time and space, as well as avoiding damaging your favorite sweaters and cardigans. And if there are other delicate items that you don't want to hang up in the traditional way, you can apply the same method to them too!
