Mold is one of the most frequent annoyances when it comes to bathroom hygiene and cleanliness. The degree of humidity in this part of the house is always very high. It is therefore easy for bacteria, fungi and mold to proliferate in the bathroom.

Where water is particularly rich in limestone, the situation is worse because the limescale encrustations attract mold. Tiles, grout and areas of the shower are the places where mold/limescale develops the most. And, considering that mold can be harmful to our health, it is essential to find effective methods to remove it.

In these cases, bleach is often used. But more natural and less aggressive methods can also be used effectively. Find out more by reading on:

  • Hydrogen peroxide: a slightly greener solution, but no less effective than bleach. We are obviously talking about the 3% (or 10 volumes) hydrogen peroxide formulations. Soak some cotton balls and place them on the areas to be treated. Let them dry out and then remove them. The mold will have softened and can be easily removed with a toothbrush. Then rinse off thoroughly.
  • Vinegar or lemon: two completely natural but effective products against mold, thanks to their abrasive power. You can create a cleaning solution made of water and vinegar or lemon juice (it is usually recommended to use one part water to three parts vinegar or lemon juice). Spray the mixture on the areas affected by mold and leave it for five to ten minutes. Scrub off with a toothbrush and rinse.
  • Baking soda: last but not least, is baking soda. It is also amongst the most popular remedies in the fight against mold, thanks to its antibacterial and absorbent properties. To use it in the bathroom, make a mixture that has the consistency of a gel, using baking soda and water. Distribute the gel on the parts to be cleaned and let it dry. Remove the dried gel and mold by gently scrubbing with a toothbrush. Then, of course, rinse off.

Have you tried any of these remedies yet?
