Effective, natural remedies to remove condensation from windows during winter
During the winter months, we often see small droplets of water forming on the glass of our windows. This condensation phenomenon occurs due to the large temperature differentials between the inside and the outside of the house and the high percentage of humidity in the air. If neglected, this phenomenon can lead to the formation of mold in the coldest, dampest areas of the home.
Opening the windows daily is an excellent remedy to avoid the formation of condensation and mold; ventilating the rooms is in fact the best solution to avoid the excessive accumulation of humidity in our homes. However, if the condensation has already formed, we suggest some simple, natural remedies to remove it quickly.

There are many home remedies that can be implemented to easily remove condensation from glass:
- Sheets of newspaper: newspapers are excellent absorbers of water and humidity: take a sheet, fold it and pass it over the glass. You will see that it removes the condensation in an instant.
- Lemon: fill a spray bottle with the juice of 2 lemons and a cup of water. Spray on the glass and wipe off with a cotton cloth.
- Marseille soap: another very effective remedy, you will need to dissolve a spoonful of the soap in a bain-marie and mix it with 400 ml of water. Spray on the glass and dry off using a microfiber cloth, then with a cotton one.
- White vinegar: essential in any DIY remedy cabinet, just mix vinegar with water in equal parts and, after removing the condensation, spray it on the glass and dry off with a cotton cloth.
- Potatoes: it may seem strange, but this works! This is a remedy usually recommended for shower doors, but it is also very effective in the case of condensation on the windows. All you need to do is cut a potato in half and pass it over the entire surface of the glass. Dry off with a clean cloth and you're done.
Once the condensation has been removed, remember to try remedies to prevent it from forming again: ventilate the rooms even when it's cold; avoid drying laundry inside if possible and; if necessary, get a dehumidifier!
