Lint and pilling on sweaters and woolen clothes? Make it disappear using a few simple tips

How many times, after putting on your favorite wool sweater or dress, do you realize that it is covered with lint and wool pills on the surface? This is a fairly common phenomenon, especially when the quality of the wool is not the best: in fact, with more casual garments, it is easy for pilling (this is the name of the phenomenon) to appear after just a few washes.

There are steps we can take to delay the appearance of pilling, such as washing the garments inside out, reducing the spin speed as much as possible and by hand washing. But sooner or later the pilling will appear, so how do you get rid of this? Read to find out more:

If you think that pilling will arise very often, try buying electric razors designed for depilling clothes. They aren't expensive and are very efficient.

Then there is the obvious manual alternative, that is to use a hand razor: you need to have a little patience as you manually shave the pilling off. If the affected area is small (sometimes the pilling is concentrated in the armpit area, for example), you can cut the bobbles away using nail scissors (but be careful).

A highly recommended method found online is the one that involves the use of pumice stone: in fact, there are pumice stones specifically for this task (sometimes they are found as Sweater brick, fuzz brick or sweater stone). Just rub the stone very gently over the surface of the garment and the stone will remove the lint without stressing the fabric. You can see here how this works.

A little less effective, but easy to do when you don't have any of the above tools to hand, is to use adhesive tape: stick the tape to the shirt and then pull away - the lint and pilling should adhere to the adhesive.

In short, a sweater doesn't have to look tatty just because of a little pilling. Give one of these solutions a try!
