DIY mini-Christmas tree: decorate your home for the holidays while having fun with the kids
When December arrives, most homes fill up with decorations, especially those with children. And what could be better than spending winter afternoons and Sundays in our homes, with Christmas music in the background and a workbench cluttered with materials for making decorations? Origami paper, pine wreaths, berries, pine cones, fir tree branches: there are so many things that can be created with DIY projects and recycled materials - from the simplest and quickest, to the most elaborate.
On the web, there are many tutorials for making DIY decorations and today we show you few easy ones for making splendid DIY mini-Christmas trees.
Materials
TikTokker, @craftscm, shows us a tutorial to make a beautiful and very simple mini-Christmas tree. For this simple task you will need only a few easy-to-find materials:
- wooden sticks, 15 cm long
- the lid from a glass jar
- thick kitchen twine
- hot glue
- cardboard or gold foil for the star
Production
If the wooden sticks are too long, cut them to a length of 15cm using garden shears or pliers. Then, take the lid of the jar and place it with the closed part facing downwards; start gluing the sticks (7 or 8 will suffice) to the side of the lid, keeping the same distance between them; as you glue them, join their tops together. This way, you will get a cone which will become the frame for your tree. Then, take the twine and glue one end to the top of the tree. Now wind it around the tree frame, covering the sides, gluing it to the sticks as you go. Secure the end of the twine to the base with hot glue.
Then make a star from cardboard and/or gold foil and glue it to the top of the tree and you're done! Watch the video here to see how simple this is . If you want, you can add other decorations to your little tree, perhaps LED lights with the batteries hidden inside the lid (and covered with lichen or moss). Now you have a mini, traditional Christmas tree!
Have fun with your children and happy holidays to all!
