Surprise your loved ones with stylishly wrapped Christmas gifts: 10 ideas to inspire you

Every year, the time comes to decide which Christmas gifts to buy for our loved ones and this takes up a lot of time and energy. Once the gifts have been purchased, we need to wrap them. After all, unwrapping presents is a fundamental part of the Christmas experience.

Presenting a gift wrapped with colored paper, bows and matching decorations is always a joy. But if we then think of the fact that, in the vast majority of cases, the wrappings will be thrown away, perhaps it is worth considering ways to reduce this waste.

Try to use simple, recycled, plain wrapping paper to wrap up your gifts. These gifts can always be decorated using real tree sprigs and twine.

To decorate this type of gift - and instead of using glossy paper or plastic ribbons - you can also use candy canes, twine and pine cones.

Another nice idea is to use cookie cutters to decorate a gift. They're easy to find, don't cost much, and after being used as gift decorations, they can be used by the recipient to make cookies!

If you have the time, cut citrus fruits into thin slices and dry the slices in the oven on low heat: while they dry out they will give off a delicious scent in the house. Once dry, they will become excellent to use as Christmas decorations and for gift packages!

Painted wooden disks - or decorated with felt-tip pens or even pyrography: they can first serve as labels and then as ornaments for the tree!

The same can be done with ornaments made with salt dough (and they can be any shape you want).

And for an even more personalized touch, add initials of the gift receipient to these handcrafted ornaments.

As for the colors of the wrapping paper, it doesn't always have to be the classic reds and greens of Christmas. Even pastel colors are nice, perhaps enhanced with ribbons and bows.

And even if you have cards with floral patterns at home, and matching ribbons, they'll be fine: it will then be the decorations that will add the Christmas touch.

A very nice idea could even be to add toys to the gift wrapping. Perfect for children (and some adults)!

Happy Holidays!
