Limescale stains on your taps? Use shaving cream to make them disappear
From the bathroom to the kitchen, the taps in the home get dirty all the time: sometimes it's soap residue or fingerprints that get on the surfaces... But in most cases, it is limescale stains that remain behind after water dries on the metal. Often, these stains are not highly visible at first, but if they are not cleaned off regularly, they end up becoming a real problem.
Given this, it is best to take timely measures and use suitable products to keep your taps clean and shiny. Amongst the various allies we can turn to, there is a product that we often find in our bathrooms: shaving foam. Read on to find out more:
The cleaning method is really intuitive and easy: just cover the metal surface with shaving foam, leave it to act for a few minutes and then rub it off using a cloth. Some prefer to use a dry cloth and to polish the tap until the surface is shiny. Others first use a damp cloth to remove the bulk of the foam, and then polish with a dry one to remove any residue and to restore the shine.
The recommended shaving foam is the traditional foam one, i.e. a white foam without gel components.
This product also comes in handy for several other chores around the house:
- A thin film can be spread on mirrors, removing it with a soft, dry microfibre cloth, which is rubbed until the glass is shiny again. This prevents the mirror from fogging up later!
- It can be used to treat stains on carpets, rugs and upholstery: it seems that the best method in these cases is to put a little foam on the stain, let it dry out and then, when it is completely dry, dab with a cloth or use a vacuum cleaner to remove any residue.
- Polishing metal jewelry: you'll be surprised at how clean your jewelry will be!
