Help keep joints and grout clean by using just one product
It is never pleasant to see dirt trapped between the floor joints or bathroom tiles: the cleaner the surfaces are, the more you notice this dirt. Additionally, it is not just a question of aesthetics, but it's also a hygiene concern: when we notice dirt between the tiles, it probably means that mold is also forming.
This often occurs in bathrooms and kitchens, especially near stoves or sinks, where it is easier for humidity to build up. Cleaning this dirt away is a painstaking, precision job, and there are many special tools and products to do this task. But the use of one product can certainly help us out with this onerous chore. Read on to find out more:
TikTokker @cleanthatup, shows us an ally that could prove indispensable: a grout sealant. This is a liquid product designed specifically to proctect grout with a protective film, making the grout water-repellent and more resistant to dirt. This product helps to ensure the grouting is cleaned more easily when we do a regular cleaning.
This product can be found in shops specializing in home and DIY jobs, and the application is quite straightforward. As you can also see in the video, the product comes with a small brush that allows you to get into all the crevices easily. Just remember a few things:
- The sealant can only be applied to joints that have been perfectly cleaned and dried beforehand. So, ensure take all the surfaces to be treated are spotless. All surfaces must be completely dry before proceeding to use the sealant. The TikTokker suggests waiting 24 hours, and to check carefully that there is no dust, lint or hair in the joint before applying the sealant.
- Often, these sealant products take several hours to dry completely, up to 24 hours in some cases. So make sure you place the area "out of bounds" to others.
- If by chance you have used too much of the product, use a cloth or an old towel to remove it by rubbing gently.
This is a meticulous job, but is worth the investment in money and time. Have you ever tried this?
