Cleaning the oven's double-glazed door: quick and easy methods to do this chore
Of all domestic chores, that of cleaning the oven is perhaps one of the most difficult and complicated to carry out. Removing baked in dirt from the inside and the grills is already a difficult task in itself, but when it comes to cleaning the double glazed glass in the door, it can be a mammoth undertaking. Often going years without a thorough cleaning, this glass gets dirty both on the outside and between the two sheets (of glass).
But what if we told you that there is a quick and easy way to clean these double-glazed glass sheets easily? Let's find out how to do this without disassembling the whole door.
Creativo
To carry out this operation, you will need to have a tool that can reach inside, between the two sheets of glass: you can use a spatula or a flat ladle, a pair of tongs or a metal hanger. Whatever instrument you have chosen, it will need to be covered with a soft cloth, secured with an elastic band.
Once you have your tool, make a degreasing product using simple, natural ingredients. There are several possibilities to choose from, and here are two recipes. The first involves exploiting the degreasing power of citric acid and lemon. You will need:
- filtered lemon juice
- citric acid
- water
Make a solution by dissolving the citric acid in the water and then add the lemon juice.
Alternatively, you can exploit the cleaning and sanitizing power of bicarbonate combined with vinegar and salt. In this case you need:
- white vinegar
- sodium bicarbonate
- salt
- water (warm)
In this case, dissolve the salt and baking soda in the warm water and then add the white vinegar.
In both cases, once you have transferred the solution to a spray bottle, spray it abundantly on the cloth on your tool and insert it between the two sheets of glass, rubbing the surfaces vigoursly. If necessary, replace the cloth with a clean one when it gets too dirty. Wipe off with a damp cloth, then let the glass dry.
Your oven's door will look as good as new!
