Cleaning tools you would not expect: an electric toothbrush and a vacuum cleaner can help with the housework

There is no doubt that cleaning the house is not amongst the favorite pastimes for the majority of people. It takes patience, dedication and, when the dirt is particularly stubborn, a lot of elbow grease. It is usually not fun at all and it is done only because it has to be done - like any kind of unpleasant duty.

But making some types of cleaning and housework easier isn't impossible. We can find unsuspected allies in tools that we usually use for different purposes. Would you ever say that an electric toothbrush can be used to remove dirt? And that a vacuum cleaner can be used for other purposes other the usual vacuuming of carpets?

On TikTok, @starlightcleaning, (who is famous for dispensing tips on home cleaning), posted a video of a bizarre, but effective, technique for cleaning stubborn dirt from windowsills and window frames. Doing so is very simple. You can try this yourself by getting an electric toothbrush and the vacuum cleaner (being careful that the latter is also suitable for sucking up liquids).

  • With a spray-on cleaning solution or degreaser, spray this on the area to be cleaned and according to the type of dirt to be removed.
  • With the electric toothbrush, brush the area thoroughly to form a foam that will help dissolve any dirt encrustations. For a safer and more satisfying result, you can let this foam act for a while so that descales and dissolves the dirt properly.
  • After leaving it to act for the necessary time, remove the excess by vacuuming up. If necessary, you can rinse off with a wet cloth. The result will be really fantastic and we assure you that the experience is almost fun.

If it seems odd to you that this method can do such an incredible job, watch the video on the user's profile.

And then give it a try. You may be pleasantly surprised!
