The power of a squeezed lemon: before throwing it in the bin, use it in these ways
A vital ingredient in our kitchens, lemons are used to season our dishes and to make delicious dishes and tasty drinks. But the usefulness of lemon does not stop at the kitchen: in our home, lemons can also be used for many other purposes, thanks to its antiseptic and cleansing properties - as well as for its wonderful scent.
From dishes to worktops, through coffee makers and crockery but also for floors, bathrooms and showers: lemon is the perfect, natural remedy for the whole house - and which cleans and degreases without damaging surfaces. Let's see together how lemons can be used:
1. The countertop and cutting boards in the kitchen

Wooden or plastic cutting boards can be cleaned by rubbing a lemon on their surface before proceeding with a normal wash. To clean a worktop with a lemon, cut the lemon in half, sprinkle one half with salt and rub it on the surface; let it act for a few minutes before rinsing off. Be careful not to use this remedy on marble countertops as it could ruin them!
2. Polish stainless steel

Whether it is the pots or the sink, it doesn't matter: you can use a lemon as a sponge to degrease and remove stains, grime and limescale. Rub it on the surface, then rinse and dry thoroughly with a cloth. You can also use the same technique shown above for kitchen worktops (i.e. using fine salt and letting it soften a with the lemon juice before rubbing it on the surfaces).
3. Washing the dishes

To wash dishes and degrease them with using lemons, fill the sink with hot water and squeeze half a lemon into it before adding the normal detergent (preferably ecological). Then use the squeezed lemon half as a sponge to scrub the dishes and you will see that they will shine like new.
4. In the dishwasher

If, on the other hand, you wash your dishes with the dishwasher, don't give up on exploiting the degreasing power of a lemon: before throwing it into the organic bucket, put a squeezed lemon into the dishwasher rack before starting the wash. It will act as both a degreaser and a rinse aid - and will help neutralize bad odors.
5. In the shower

To remove limescale stains from the shower, you can rub a lemon on the doors before rinsing off with clean water. If you add salt, be careful not to scratch the glass.
6. In the washing machine

Finally, lemon is also a valuable alley for your laundry: pouring lemon juice into the detergent dispenser during the wash cycle will help you whiten whites and remove grease and oil stains.
These are some of the uses of lemon in household cleaning chores: what others do you know of?
