Yellow soap: discover a thousand uses for DIY doses you can easily prepare at home

So-called yellow soap - or soft potassium soap - is an economical and multipurpose ecological soap, that is one of those products that we should always keep at home because it becomes an ideal substitute in cases of emergency (or for regular household chores).

It comes in the form of a transparent yellow block, a bit soft and sticky, and which easily deforms with heat. This characteristic means that you can easily make single-dose balls, perfect to keep ready for use throughout the home.

To prepare your single-dose balls you simply need to equip yourself with:

  • a cutting board
  • a knife, or dental floss or a nylon thread (even a very strong sewing thread can work)
  • a jar to store the balls in

The procedure is very easy:

  • Cut the stick of yellow soap into slices and then into squares. The size depends on the use you will make of them, but it is best to make them medium-small, like the size of chocolates.
  • Take each portion thus obtained in your hands, and roll it between your palms as if you were preparing a meatball.
  • Place your balls one by one inside the container, and close it tightly.

As for uses, there are many possible:

  • In the toilet: cheaper than the special products, you can press a ball against the wall of the toilet, under the rim, so that every time you flush the toilet, the soap cleans and deodorizes.
  • When you need a cleaner for kitchen or bathroom surfaces, dissolve a few balls (the concentration depends on your needs) in boiling water, then pour the liquid into a spray bottle to obtain a natural degreaser.
  • For steel surfaces - and also the inside of the fridge: dissolve the balls in a bowl of very hot water, dip a suitable sponge or cloth into the liquid, and wash as usual.
  • In the laundry: just like Marseille soap, this yellow soap is also great for washing textiles. Just put one or two balls directly into the drum and start the wash cycle.

How many other ways do you use yellow soap?
