To illustrate some of the fundamentals is @faithchappelle, a TikTokker followed by many for her hair and makeup tips. As someone with naturally curly hair, this TikTokker shows, in various videos, all her secrets on how she keeps her hair beautiful. In one video in particular, the golden rules for curly hair to be observed are revealed. There are basic rules and, apparently, they are very effective:

  • To keep your hair healthy, try to get it cut every three or four months.
  • Always try to choose products without alcohol and sulphates.
  • Limit the use of hair tools that use heat as much as possible. Therefore hair dryers, curling irons and hot curlers are to be used only when necessary and in moderation.
  • Get into the habit of detangling your curls with a wettened brush.
  • When washing your hair, always do the last rinse with cold water, to seal the hair shaft and keep the required humidity inside.
  • Do a protein treatment once a month.
  • At night, cover your hair with a bonnet, hat or silk scarf. This will prevent frizzing, strands from  breaking and keeping the definition of your curls for longer.

According to this TikTokker, these are the main rules for guaranteeing beautiful and healthy curly hair. If you want to research more, check the specific video or all the other content offered by @faithchappelle on her account.
