When we decide to bring fresh cut flowers into the house, we know that they will remain fresh for only a short time:cut flowers can no longer draw nourishment from the soil, of course. However, we can enjoy their beauty for a longer time, using this tip:

Add sugar to the water that the stems are immersed in, and it will help the plants stay fresh for a little longer. You can also put in a teaspoon of bleach, to disinfect the water from bacteria that cause the flowers to wilt.

Have you ever spent ages trying to thread a needle? If you use a toothbrush, this process will be easier. Place the thread crosswise on the bristles, then place the eye of the needle on the thread, so that the thread runs across the hole; press the needle on the bristles, so that the tip of the bristles push the thread through the eye. You can also use a second needle to pull up the loop of thread that is produced.

You are outdoors, perhaps camping, and you have to light a fire with matches, but the wind is blowing. You can prepare yourself before striking the match: with a small knife, you can make cuts along the wooden shaft, before the head, in order to lift - but without detaching - multiple splinters which extend from the base towards the head. The flame will last longer, by burning these lifted fragments and the wind will not extinguish the match that easily.
