10 ideas to make the entrance to your home more welcoming using a bench
The entrance to a home creates the first impression, and so we should pay particular attention to how it looks.
We need to think about how we usually use the entrance, and if it is the spot where we put our coats or where we change our shoes, it becomes very useful to have a bench or seat to sit on, and/or hooks, shelves and drawers available so these items do not pile up behind the door. Below, you will find some ideas which you might want to copy:
If there is enough space for a sofa, you could make one out of an old chest of drawers that you were going to throw away.
Do you prefer basic piece of furniture so as not to clutter the area? Then a wooden bench with slim lines could be for you.
For farmhouse styly lovers: a rustic bench with soft, weathered and vintage lines, and with a comfortable mattress. Very cute!
A large and sturdy drawer (or perhaps reinforced for the occasion), can be placed vertically with the concave side facing outwards. Once equipped with feet, it becomes a nice cabinet to be used at the entrance of the house.
If there is a niche, perhaps once closed by a built-in wardrobe, you can open it up (and make the entrance seem even wider) and place a seat at the bottom, and useful shelves at the top.
Even without a niche, a bench with a panel on the back to furnish an entire portion of the wall is an idea to consider.
And even better, you can choose some particular decoration for the panel that acts as a backrest.
When rustic marries Nordic and modern tastes: a slab of untreated wood resting on hairpin legs could be all you need.
There is also no shortage of DIY projects to create a shoe cabinet that is small and compact, but also sturdy enough to sit on.
And always useful - even at the entrance - an overturned, open bookcase to make it a seat with spaces to be filled in under the lid.
