Bottom of a pan badly scorched? Try cleaning it with simple household ingredients

As careful as you are not to spill or burn food of any kind during cooking, the bottom of pots and pans often end up getting black after some time. And this will happen especially if, after each use, you do not put meticulously clean these utensils.

Bits of food residue that adhere to the outside of pots end up getting burned and painstakingly cleaning these away takes a lot of time. So, what can we do when a pan is completely black? You can try to follow the example of a TikToker who went viral online with her cleaning tip. Read on to find out what it is:

First of all, place the pan upside down on a surface that you are not afraid of staining (perhaps outside the house is best). Or, in any case, protect the surface adequately. The environment in which you work must also be adequately ventilated.

Equip yourself with:

  • cooking salt;
  • sodium bicarbonate (baking soda);
  • absorbent paper napkins or toweling;
  • white vinegar;
  • dishwashing liquid;
  • a brush for washing dishes (or even a steel wool ball for scrubbing pots).

How to proceed:

  • Sprinkle some salt all over the bottom of the pan;
  • Do the same with baking soda;
  • Pour in a dash of dishwashing liquid (or a little more) - a bit like you do when you put in oil for cooking;
  • With the brush or steel wool, mix and spread all the ingredients well together, without rubbing too much.
  • Cover the bottom and side walls well with paper towels, so that no areas of pan are exposed.
  • Pour in the vinegar to wet all the paper.
  • After a few minutes, discard the paper.

The result (as seen in the video) looks like magic - perhaps too good to be true?

Watch the video to see the specific steps, and decide whether it is a genuine solution. You could try the technique on an old pan and find out if it works!
