It is true that fresh flowers have extraordinary colors and scents, and it is nice to use them to decorate the various rooms of the house. But it is equally true that it is only a matter of days - sometimes very few - before they wilt and must be thrown away. There are ways to make them last longer, but it is undeniable that they never last as long as we would like.

If you don't have time to set up new floral arrangements every week - and you don't like fake flowers - the best alternative is to use dried flowers. This way, you can enjoy the flowers all year round (and for several years, sometimes!) There is an infinite variety of flowers, leaves and even dried fruits that keep their shapes and colors when dried.

Just go to a flower shop, or a well-stocked nursery, or even just browse online: you will find all kinds of ideas, and you will discover that there is an infinity of plants that lend themselves perfectly to decorating the home once they have dried out.

Living branches can also be combined with dried flowers. Eucalyptus and Pampas Grass, for example, are much beloved.

And cotton, combined with cut palm leaves, are also fantastic additions in any dried flower arrangement.

Dried flowers are beautiful in ceramic vases, but also in glass ones. And in the latter, you can decorate the bottom with sand, stones and a thousand other objects: there is no need for water, so you can go wild.

White ceramic is beautiful with brightly colored arrangements ...

... and even copper lends itself to these decorations!

Try suing some carnivorous plants - they always have extraordinary shapes.

Hydrangeas: these are amongst the most beautiful and easy-to-find flowers in dried form. In fact, although many types of hydrangea should not have their flowers cut off at end of the summer, many people tend to to anyway - perhaps just to use them as decorations. They are "facilitators", because by the end of August or September, they are already quite dry. But it is always better to do this with plants from the "quercifolia" family.

Hydrangeas, Pampas grass, palm leaves: the colors of nature and the shapes of the various species guide us in the best composition.

Not just in vases: dried flowers lend themselves to a lot of different and creative arrangements, even more modern ones. It's nice, for example, to stick the stems into a wooden dowel that can serve as an ornament, a table centerpiece or even to hang on the wall.

And in the case of decorations for a special occasion, chains of dried flowers can be made that hang from the ceiling to form "curtains" that are a perfect background for photos.

And why not hang dried flower strands from a circular support? It is a fascinating reinterpretation of standard garlands.
