Furnishing with wood and logs: 12 ideas to add natural materials into your home
Gone are the times when pieces of wood, which are "rough", are used exclusively for rustic furnishings. Chalets and similar buildings abound, clad with logs and other pieces of wood that may still have the bark attached.
With the evolution of interior design, we have returned to embrace the beauty of natural wood in more modern-styled environments: white, minimalist interiors that have branches, trunks and accessories made from pieces of raw wood, are very popular. Check out the ideas below to find out how you might do the same:
Thick wooden discs, cut from large trunks or branches and still with the bark: by cutting out a small section, they become amazing shelves.
Fixed flat to the wall, these log rondles are perfect as supports for decorating: you can attach pots with plants, for example...
... or even coat hooks!
The idea of covering the surface with a mirrors is wonderful.
Raw or natural wood can also include the roots: cleaned and perhaps even repainted and used as decorative elements.
Even trunks with intact branches - stripped and treated - become architectural structures that add unexpected and fascinating details. When using pieces of raw wood, we must remember not only to clean and sand it, but also to seal the fibers using suitable oils (such as Tung's), which will preserve the piece over time.
Simple wooden planks used as unique wall lamps: and idea to copy.
Or a plank obtained from a trunk, which houses the spotlights along the ceiling of a corridor.
Beams that have been obtained from some old building, and inserted into the architecture of the house (perhaps as load-bearing pillar): an idea to be admired.
Using small branches, even bamboo stems, mirrors can be framed.
A trunk can become the frame for a unique floor lamp...
...or perhaps a handrail for the stairs!
