Making room at home: 13 brilliant furnishing solutions to be inspired by
It is always useful to find a little extra space in which to store (or just "hide"!) objects we keep in various rooms of the house. Whether it's to get rid of knick-knacks when you need to clear out a room on some important occasion; or just to find a new place for some stocks of products we have at home, discovering unexploited spaces in the home is always useful.
So, we begin to look around the rooms, finding surfaces and spaces that can be equipped with intelligent furnishing solutions, such as the ones you see below:
If there is no furniture, shelves or similar around the toilet, it is worth thinking about mounting cabinets that frame the toilet itself, providing space on shelves and inside the cabinets.
Sloping ceilings in the attic will be difficult to furnish with furniture to sit on, but at least they offer a space to close up with vertical doors - perhaps even sliding ones like miniature barn doors - to make the attic a useful and tidy storage area.
If the units in your kitchen (or any other room) don't end flush with the wall, but has some space left over, it's worth considering a customized fitting of narrow shelves to fill this gap.
On the kitchen backsplash there may be space for a shelf or hooks to hang mugs, arrange spices and other commonly used accessories or ingredients.
When the house welcomes many guests, the space under the coffee table can accommodate poufs that will convert into extra seats.
Under the stairs: another area of the house to make the most of - using both drawers and pull-out shelves!
And what about corner walls in a hallway? These are perfect for small corner shelves, and you will see how to make piles of books or knick-knacks disappear.
It can be very handy to mount large, colorful jars, baskets and similar objects to a wall to clear off other work surfaces.
To almost every internal shelf in the bathroom and kitchen cabinets, you can probably add extra levels with appropriate dividing accessories.
Between the washing machine and the clothes dryer is the perfect place to store detergents and cleaning accessories.
Another idea for attics: oblique doors!
Don't forget the space above the doors, just below the ceiling: it could accommodate long shelves on which to store many things.
And the same goes for those tall, narrow columns of space that form between the back of a door and the corner of the room!
