Combating mess: simple tips for keeping your home neat and tidy

Even the messiest person in the world would have to admit that walking into a house that appears well-organized makes a great impression, and that finding a space that is equipped with everything needed is a good feeling . So, it is always good idea to do everything possible to better organize one's home, especially the common areas, or where guests are received.

This often means having to find a place for the things that clutter the visible surfaces. In this regard, there are some tips to always keep in mind:

Jars, baskets and various containers

Although we may have calculated the measurements and the internal dimension of our furniture down to the millimeter, there is always something more we can do to make our shelves and drawers look tidier.

From an aesthetic point of view, if we really want to keep various tools and accessories out (cotton pads, combs and brushes, make-up sponges, etc), consider taking them out of their boxes and putting them into jars, baskets and containers that have a uniform look. Everything will immediately seem much neater.

Even doing this, however, where there is not much space available on free surfaces, we can end up creating an annoying amount of clutter, and this makes cleaning even more challenging. In this case, it is better to use the containers mentioned above inside the furniture and on shelves.

This principle applies everywhere, even in the linen closets. The important thing is to always allocate each container for the same use: it will be sufficient to indicate with a label what we have placed in the boxes or baskets if which we cannot see the contents at a glance.

By doing this we will be forced to "work" only when we have made a purchase: removing the goods from their packaging and transferring them to the various containers is still a chore, but we recover this "lost time" when easily retrieving the items for use!

Hiding clutter

There are some things that are impossible to move or eliminate, such as the power cables for many household appliances and electronic devices.

In this case, the trick is to hide these items: use special baskets, or look for creative solutions such as inventive concealing (for example, hiding the router behind some fake books).

A basket that holds everything you do not know where to store, is one of the best strategies to keep rooms tidy. And maybe, this basket can becomes the "magical place" to search when something is mislaid in the home.

Dividers

Sometimes, this seems like one of those expenses that can be avoided, but it is worth considering as an effective solution: we are talking about dividers that create neat compartments in an existing space (like a drawer, for example).

A drawer that always benefits from having dividers is that of a desk - but even those holding underwear become much more convenient to use after having had their interiors divided into compartments.

Dividers come in handy even in large drawers where previously we had only stored large objects. Not to mention, that it is easier to keep the drawer clean, as the dividers are easily removable.

Lids for pots and pans

Those who love to cook have pots and pans of all kinds (as well as containers for storing food of all types). Each of these have lids that steal space. When you try to put everything into one kitchen cabinet, it is usually impossible to avoid creating a mess.

The first thing to do, is to separate the pots and containers from their respective lids. These lids can then be hooked to the inside of the door of the kitchen cabinet.

But racks are also very convenient, allowing you to put all types of lids side by side neatly: they take up less space and are much easier to take out and put away.

Objects used for other purposes, such as document holders or magazine racks, when fixed to the inside of kitchen unit doors, can also be converted into lid holders.

Wall hooks and organizers

We all have cups that we use more often: from large ones for milk to smaller ones for tea or coffee. Instead of having to stack shaky cup towers all the time, it is a better idea to provide supports where each cup has its own place. Simple wall-mounted hooks will be sufficient to do this!

These are just a few pointers to consider, but they can make a real difference. What's your favorite ways to keep your home tidy?
