Not just for windows: 8 ways you can use curtains to decorate your home elegantly

When choosing curtains to hang up at home, we always consider the size of the window (or windows) they will cover, and then obviously the material and color must be the best matches for the decor of the room. Curtains are therefore a useful and decorative element that can be hung in many different ways, of course, but what about the idea of using them elsewhere in the house where one would not necessarily expect to find them?

Functionally, curtains create a vertical screen that protects us from strong sunlight and prying eyes, so why not take advantage of these features in all the other contexts where they can be used in the home? Just fix the rods on which they can be hung and they can become virtual doors, walls, and more.

Wall dividers

Do you have a large room in which you have distinct areas for different uses? Divide it up with some soft and light dividers: they can be windows, hanging shelves or vertical gardens - but they can also be curtains, which have the advantage of being able to be kept open or closed so as to always change the look and feel of the room.

Doors

If you like open wardrobes or wardrobe compartments that have been created in a niche in the wall, you can enjoy them without worrying about always having to keep them in perfect order (or having to deal with all the dust that settles in and on them). In fact, these are the biggest problems that this open-face trend in furniture without doors causes for everyone. And a curtain can solve these issues: you can think of them as virtual doors that, if necessary, you can keep open, but are at the ready to be closed and cover and protect everything inside when it is needed.

They also work well with any closet or wardrobe!

More on doors

Curtains can be an airy alternative to a fixed, solid door: as such, it  only partially closes the room. Perhaps, however, if you do not want to give up being able to isolate the room when needed (noise and drafts are never pleasant), you can still combine them with a real door. So maybe in summer, you can even use the curtain by itself - but in winter you can keep yourself warmer by closing the door well.

And curtains are perfect if you want to "close" an area by creating a room, becoming something which is halfway between a door and a wall to isolate the bed - perhaps in an attic is a perfect place for this solution.

To decorate the walls

Instead of wallpaper or tiles, use curtains! It is a very unusual idea, which creates a very intimate atmosphere by making a room or a sort of an alcove. And if it seems to much to have on all walls, it can always be used perhaps just on one wall which is in the room - often the one behind the headboard is the favorite choice!

Curtains become the ideal solution in a room where the walls are almost entirely made from glass, to screen from the sun and provide privacy. You can decide whether to keep them closed or open them up and let the external world "enter" the room!

And once drawn up into the corners, the curtains can be arranged in an artistic way!

Would you like to use curtains like this?
