The sponges to distribute make-up on the face are a real must-have for everyone: they made applying concealers, bases, foundations and various creams much easier than normal, with excellent results especially for those who are not particularly skilled at handling different types of brushes that are needed for precision use of these products.

Over time, each of the leading cosmetics brands marketed their own make-up sponges, with different shapes and sizes to allow everyone to play around with contouring and sculpting their face products as they wish. Using them every day, however, raises the problem of how to clean them properly: the accumulation of products inside the sponge, which are then mixed with the oils of the skin and perhaps with the residue of other cosmetics, can be deleterious to the health of one's skin.

And if we use many different ones very frequently, having to wash them one by one every day is a great inconvenience: But since we cannot avoid doing this necessary chore, how can we take care of make-up sponges more efficiently? You may find some advice from TikTok useful:

Vanesa Amaro tells us in a video that her favorite method is to take advantage of the shower, so as not to waste extra time (or water).

If you want to follow her example, you will need to:

  • Keep your used and soiled make-up sponges in a plastic bag or some other material container that can get wet without a problem.
  • Always have a bar of soap ready in your hands (but solid or liquid shampoo also works very well, and of course also Marseille soap or shower gel).
  • When you get into the shower, take the container full of sponges with you and then, under the jet of water, rub each with the soap so as to cover it in soap and squeeze it in your hands to get all the dirt out. When no more colored water runs out of the sponge, move on to the next one.

It can be useful to take care of this cleaning while you rinse yourself off, and even more so when you have to leave any hair product in your hair for a few minutes!

Using shampoo, by the way, is also one of the preferred methods for cleaning make-up brushes.
