Deodorant stains on your clothes? Make them disappear with some DIY remedies
Deodorant (deo) is a cosmetic product that we cannot do without - especially in hot periods, but also in winter (when you spend a lot of time in heated environments) and you always have to deal with sweat and the very unpleasant odor it causes. . So each of us has a favorite deodorant product, with a pleasant aroma: some are nebulized sprays, others are in sticks, others come as a cream.
Useful and indispensable, yes, but when you are in a hurry and wear the shirt or dress on duty without waiting a while after applying the deodorant, inevitably a large part of the product ends up on the fabric. And we don't always wash clothes immediately or in a way that completely eliminates any deo residue. So what can we do to make sure we remove all traces of deodorant from our clothes? You can use several DIY methods, and we show you some of these below:
Creativo
For dark garments
- sodium bicarbonate
- white vinegar
- an old toothbrush or small brush
- a towel
How to proceed:
- Turn the garment inside out, so as to work on the inside of the armpits
- Place the garment flat on a towel, folded in half
- Sprinkle the stained area with baking soda
- Scrub the area with the toothbrush to distribute the baking soda thoroughly
- Pour small amounts of vinegar directly onto the baking soda and wait for it to finish foaming
- Scrub again with the toothbrush
Not all fabrics react well to vinegar, so make sure your garment can be treated with this substance and, in any case, try to see what happens first on a hidden corner of the garment.
Alternatively, you could use: a magic eraser (moistened, passing it gently over the fabric) or; baby wet wipes, dabbing gently on the stain or; a slightly damp cloth or towel, rubbing on the stains.
For whites (and lights) garments
There are two options. You can try with:
- Baking soda, hydrogen peroxide, water, a toothbrush: the three ingredients must be mixed in equal parts in a small bowl, then with the toothbrush take a little of the paste obtained and distribute it by it rubbing lightly on the stain. After 30 minutes proceed with a regular washing.
- Hydrogen peroxide, laundry detergent, toothbrush: mix 80 ml of hydrogen peroxide with 60ml of detergent and do as in the previous remedy - but the processing time is longer. In fact, it is necessary to wait an hour before washing.
