Is the wall behind the bed empty and bland? Be inspired by these ideas to decorate it

If the focus of the bedroom is, in fact, the bed, the background against which this piece of furniture is placed cannot be overlooked. Just like the background of any subject immortalized in a photo should not ruin the shot, the wall against which the bed is framed deserves to be attended to.

You can do this by hanging up certain objects or even deciding to clad or paint it in ways that match the design of the room and that of the furniture - and above all, suits our tastes. Here are some ideas to inspire you:

The boiserie, or the wooden cladding / panelling of the wall that usually reaches to just under half the height of a wall, is a centuries-old design detail. They were first used in medieval palaces to make the rooms warmer, and then became a luxury decorative element in Renaissance residences (especially in France). They continue to be very popular in the modern era.

A boiserie that reaches up to the headboard of the bed (especially if this is a simple structure) is a very sober and elegant idea.

You can also consider of using "a part" of a boiserie, just behind the bed, and which is more prominent.  And you can maybe even repeat the same desgin, in smaller measures, on the sides of the bed itself to make narrow bedside tables.

This will give you the possibility to place plants or paintings in the room; and you can also to install lights without having to use the space on any of the bedside tables.

If the headboard is not very noticeable and the wall remains free, indulge yourself by decorating it with paintings, framed images (arranged on special, narrow shelves), and even wall decorations of the most varied type (perhaps even handmade and / or customized).

The wall behind the bed could become a piece of furniture with lots of shelves and cubbies. Or it could house a bridging piece of furniture that frames the bed in a niche.

If the bed is located under a sloping roof, it can be useful to create a vertical wall and mount shelves immediately behind it (i.e. in the triangle that is formed by the ceiling).

Color blocking: this is the technique of painting blocks of color on the walls, often outlining geometric or abstract shapes. Consider the style of the bed frame and then choose which decoration in this genre that suits you best.

Highlight the wall with wallpaper: a choice that never fails and lights up the room with color.

For those who love industrial and grunge-inspired environments - perhaps also beautiful airy lofts - the charm of an exposed brick wall never fades.

And to accommodate this choice even in environments where red bricks would be too heavy, the bricks can always be painted in a light shade - try starting with white.

How would you like to decorate the wall behind your bed?
