Sometimes it happens that we look around a room and notice that it is now old and has unfashionable and worn out furniture: but most times, we have become so accustomed to the room (and its contents) that we do not even realise it is time to intervene to transform it in a meaningful way. Then there are the cases in which you take occupation of a house - even if it is only partially furnished and not in a very cohesive and pleasant way - and so you have to determine what to keep and what to throw out. And when the environment has been cleared, how does one start again from scratch?

There are online communities where users share their successful furnishing and decorating projects, and which can serve as inspiration for anyone: living rooms, bathrooms and kitchens can come back to life, finally becoming environments in step with the times. Take a look at some of the examples below:

It's hard to believe this is the same room! What looks like a basement, where old sofas used to sprawl, has become a bright and well-organized living room and dining room.

A kitchen that has made a leap forward by decades: no more tiles in sight on the counter tops or having a dull and sad color - but now, a bright white combined with the warm tones of the wood.

The laundry room can become a gem with a just a few touches: painting the wall, adding wall units, drawers and a shelf above the appliances offers plenty of space to store everything and take care of the laundry in the best way possible.

Here is a wall that has been transformed, with the motivation of wanting to hide the air conditioner fan unit: the owners have not limited themselves to covering it, but it has also become an opportunity to arrange shelving in a more pleasant way.

Another kitchen that has travelled through time with the help of a total makeover: not only the furniture has changed, but also the wall cladding (from tiles to plaster) and floor surface (from tiles to wood).

Yellow paint on the walls, especially when it is a rich and saturated tone, is one of the most impossible shades to manage - especially in a bathroom. Best to go white paint and add some decor to the fixtures and fittings.

This kitchen was rather nondescript, though not dilapidated. In addition to updating the furniture and the floor, the intervention on the section of the wall covered with tiles was spot on: initially, in fact, they were larger and arranged so as to reach the different heights on the two sides of the window. Subsequently they became metro-style tiles that create a neat and balanced backdrop.

Are there any ideas here that might come in handy for you?
