Provence Style Kitchen: Be inspired by these rustic, yet elegant projects
Furnishing a kitchen, like any other room in the house, according to the dictates of some style typical to a particular region in the world is a way to travel, but without leaving the home. You can find yourself, for example, with one foot in your home (wherever that may be), and one foot in Provence, (a region of southern France famous for its splendid countryside and sea landscapes, the scent of lavender, the love for antiques and spices).
Setting up a Provence-style kitchen means paying homage to all of this French tradition: colors ranging from lilac to gray-blue, furniture with a vintage look, and generally the atmosphere of a space that seems to treasure the traditions handed down for generations.
Wood and natural, aged materials: everything must give the impression of being something that has been in use for many years (centuries?). So perhaps the baskets, trays and crockery in general are modern in manufacture, they get their oldy-worldy look from being made of ceramic, copper, wicker, etc ... And whatever items are synthetic, will have to be hidden away.
The furniture itself is the opposite to the minimalist lines of most modern settings: there is space for embossed details, moldings, and other elements with shapes from a classical time and have an undeniable elegance.
The colors must be bright: modern versions of this style, which have white walls, sometimes seek to unite with the trends of the last few years (such as metro-style floor tiles), but they could also have room for more showy floors.
In general, however, the classic Provencal style uses pastel shades (even on the walls). It is then enriched with floral decorations: it can be wallpaper, upholstery or even the decorative motifs of cockery.
Even when trying to recreate this style with more modern furnishing - pushing the boundaries towards the modern tastes that lean towards the farmhouse style - it will be the pastel colors, as well as the details of the furnishings and furnishing accessories that give the Provencal flavor that otherwise would be lost
As for the colors themselves, white, beige, gray but also (and above all) lavender or olive and sage are the cornerpieces of this style. Environments that are reminiscent of a coastal atmosphere are also very popular, so all the shades of blue ar often used in this style of furnishing and decoration.
Recycled wood, fresh or dried flowers, the proverbial lavender ( bunches hung up to dry and perfume the room) and then unexpected details for the lighting and the more functional elements - all clearly vintage-inspired but completely modern and in step with the times: it is a balance between present and past that is nice to see this in these kitchens.
