Don't know what to do with the glass jars that held scented candles? Reuse them creatively
Using scented candles is a real pleasure to be enjoyed on special occasions: there are brands that are also quite expensive, and present their refined product in very beautiful jars or glasses. But even the cheaper ones often come in sturdy and colorful glass containers that typically end up in the trash when their candle has been consumed.
With a little inventiveness, however, we can continue to use the glass container that held the scented candle, so as to furnish the house with creativity and avoiding unnecessary waste. Check out the ideas below:
The first, obvious recycling idea is probably the one that does not involve changing the intended use of these objects: in fact, if you get some wax (even the leftovers from other candles) and a wick, you can easily go back to enjoying having a candle - even scented one - in the same container.
Obviously, you will have to completely melt away any wax residue and thoroughly clean the glass container before using it again, but it this is an obvious option: there are many ways to create candles depending on the type of wax, the color to be used (created with food coloring or melted crayons, for example), decorations or even a preferred / favourite perfume! Otherwise, you can also just place ready-made candles inside the containers, perhaps providing a foundation or backdrop in sand, colored stones, pearls and more.
Candle holder jars are perfect for standing in as flower vases: some high-end candles are contained in large glass jars that have a refined pattern carved into them. Simply add a little water and you can put some fresh flowers into it. Those jars which are a little smaller are also beautiful with one or two rose stems or other striking flowers which look good with a short stem. And of course, you could also grace them with dried or artifical flowers - compositions that could last a life-time!
Alternatively, it is also nice to use them for growing succulent plants that do not need to be watered often and therefore can survive even with just a few drops of water (i.e. without us having to drain the water from the bottom). This is the case with many succulents, and the charm of putting them in glass containers lies in the fact that creating various levels of substrate using different materials (which can even be colored!). And always being visible from the outside contributes to the aesthetic look of the jar - and you can even see the roots growing.
With a little effort, you can also add stands to the containers and use the lids which come with certain candles brands to create a set of containers to store various beauty accessories. Brushes, hairpins, rubber bands, make-up remover pads and more: these items are a lot more attractive when housed in these customized containers.
The same could be said in many other cases too: stationery items on a desk as well as accessories, jewelry and any other small items that are better when collected in an orderly way rather than just left laying around.
If the jars are large and equipped with lids, these can also become candle holders for new candles.
Happy recycling!
