Birdhouses and bird feeders: try building them with easy, fun DIY projects!
Attracting birds to the garden is a way to lend nature a hand and also make our green spaces appear more alive. To do this, you can add bird houses or bird feeders that will offer our feathered friends shelter and sustenance, which are particularly useful to them while they are nesting or when they are preparing for the most difficult moments of the year (like winter).
Many different models can be built using wood, often with unusual or colored shapes which thereby also contribute to decorating the garden. Here are some models to try or get inspiration from:

More than just a simple house, this is a real rustic cottage for birds: a fun project for those who love working with wood.
This is a very simple model, so just a few pieces of plywood are sufficient and once everything you need is ready, it takes less than half an hour to build the bird house. It is open enough to function as a feeding trough, but birds can also find some shelter in it on rainy days.
Recycled wood can also be used, such as wood from old pallets. And maybe, to give it a more attractive look, you can get creative with colored paints that will make the bird house an object to also decorate the garden with.
There are projects for all tastes and skill levels: even a square tray, with edges that are not too high and hung from simple strings or wires - these too can be useful for the birds, who will find a comfortable feeding trough to feed from.
If you like an object that blends perfectly into the landscape of the garden, a bird shelter made from a small trunk with the bark still on it could be the idea for you.
To create DIY bird feeders there are also many projects that involve recycling a glass bottles: they are turned upside down and filled with bird food. The bottles are positioned so they are almost (but not quite) touching the plate or seed tray - in this way only a small amount of the feed is released at a time.
And a simple wooden board into which you can cut slots into which plastic saucers can be "hooked" is an easy and inexpensive project for a unique bird feeder.
