With the arrival of spring and later, in summer, it is pleasant to walk in the open air and in the warm sunshine. And perhaps on certain sunnier days, there will be a need to cover and protect one’s head to be able to enjoy this pleasure for longer periods of time. Whether it is to avoid the overheating of your head or perhaps to protect the skin and eyes from the sun's rays, a hat is always a useful item of clothing, but a good sense of style requires that it also be a beautiful accessory to behold.

There are many models of hats to choose from, but to get one that can truly be said to be unique and customized, you could try to make one yourself - and an easy way to do this is to use the crocheting technique. Discover some styles to inspire you to crochet a hat in the images shown below:

If you want a wide-brimmed hat that maintains its simple and timeless shape, you can try a model like this, created with the same stitch, then skipping a few stitches to create "helixes" occuring at regular intervals. The edge remains in shape even without being reinforced with a metal wire, but the brim should not be too wide. If, on the other hand, you want a wider hat, it will be necessary to insert a metal wire for a truly perfect result.

Do you want a hat without any openwork wefts? One like this may be for you. It is smaller but still very nice, and to make it two balls of yarn can easily be enough (if they are of thick yarn which really increases quickly in size as you go along)! Simple and perfect for the beach too!

For a more sophisticated touch, it is very nice to combine a scarf to tie around the crown of the hat, and it will be an accessory to be used on many different occasions - even those whicha are a little more elegant.

For the hats themselves, you can use cotton but also raffia (from palm trees)!

A soft fedora of a casual style to use every day. It will be the perfect hat to take with you on outings and your travels, and even when squeezed into a suitcase or backpack, it won't crease to the point of warping!

For those looking for a slightly more vintage but still very feminine model, here is a different version of the usual fisherman's hat. Online there are also alternatives available with large bows resting just above the missing flap of the visor!

Would you like to make a hat like any of these?
