Bare room corners? Make them a focus and furnish them with creative and useful ideas!
When you decorate a room, you hardly consider about how to use the corners. Typically, these are spaces that are neglected, with the larger furniture being set against the walls or left free-standing and without one thinking too much about this potentially useful, empty space. Yet corners could become a point of interest in the home and can be used to host those things for which there is no place elsewhere.
A personal sitting room in which to immerse yourself while reading or relaxing; the stage for plants that can be prominently displayed in style; the space where you can find books and knick-knacks with shelves styled with panache. Take a look at the ideas below for decorating the corners of a room:
If we have no other pressing needs or ideas, and the empty, bland corner is near a window, it could become the ideal area to fill with pot plants - perhaps placed on special supports and with furniture that contributes to the overall decor.
And if you have always wanted to add a ladder to the furnishing of the room, it will always find its place in even a small corner. Much better than it becoming an impromptu open-air storage room for boxes, shoes and bags!
Corner shelves: if the rest of the wall is free, these are always useful. Materials and patterns used can greatly affect the aesthetics of the room.
In fact, you can use normal shelves, with standard or recessed brackets, or the more modern modular shelves.
If the corner is between two doors, it is best not to fill it too much. But it is not necessary to leave it empty: it could host a cabinet or a table on which to place lights and plants, and perhaps even topped by wall shelves.
In the living room it could be useful to use the space in the corner for a custom-made sideboard, so as to leave more freedom of movement around the table.
A chair, lights and small, strung lanterns: even without spending a fortune, you can set up a corner where you can relax.
And even a small seat inserted into the space between the corner shelves that almost reach the ground may be enough.
And if there is the possibility, then you can decorate relaxation corners with armchairs and plants, to create a very personal niche for yourself.
Or better yet, use mattresses or furniture of a similar type to fill the corner with a very comfortable sofa.
And if it's a bedroom - especially the kids' bedrooms - the corner could be the ideal space to host the desk without cluttering it up too much.
