Remove dirt and mold from the toothbrush holder with these simple DIY methods
The toothbrush holder is one of the items in the bathroom that you don't always remember to clean properly, as happens with the other sanitary ware. Yet leaving it dirty for too long can lead to running risks with your health. In fact, in the holder there is always a little water that drips from the brushes when they are used, and with the inevitable accumulation of dust and dirt in any room of the house, these form the ideal conditions for the proliferation of mold.
As we put our toothbrushes back into the holder, mold can get on the handles, and this is not exactly the best thing we can do for our oral care. You can use various methods to keep these bathroom accessories clean - read on:
Creativo
- Hydrogen peroxide: this is perhaps the best remedy when it comes to eliminating mold spores. Just fill the toothbrush holder with hydrogen peroxide so that it covers all the dirt present and leave it to act for half an hour before emptying it out and rinsing with hot water, rubbing away all the dirt deposits whcih were softened by the hydrogen peroxide - perhaps with the help of an old toothbrush. Drain and dry out thoroughly before placing the toothbrush holder back in its housing.
- White vinegar: this method is similar, but you will need to fill the container halfway with hot water and then the rest with white vinegar.
- Lemon or citric acid: you can dissolve lemon juice or 1 tablespoon of citric acid in enough hot water to fill the container. It is recommended to let it act for up to an hour before scrubbing off the dirt and rinsing thoroughly.
- Baking soda: you can mix baking soda with water to form a paste that you can rub on any stains with an old toothbrush. And this paste can also be combined with hydrogen peroxide. Maybe also add a few drops of teatree essential oil to take advantage of its antibacterial and antifungal properties.
- If you just need to do a quick clean, and have already removed any mold, simple Marseille soap can be used.
It is useful to remember to carry out these cleaning chores once a week, so as to avoid the growth of molds and bacteria that are harmful to our oral health. Great job!
