Discover the tips for always getting perfect laundry

When dealing with laundry, there are many factors to take into account: the ideal temperature for each type of garment and fabric; the type of washing liquid suitable for the various categories of garments; and more. Sometimes, however, even when you follow all the indications appropriate for every wash to the letter, you cannot get rid of difficult stains like ink, or you still find animal hair on your clothes, or garments that are not soft as we would like them to be.
In these, and other cases, we can make use of a series of useful and easy tips, such as those that we describe below:
Creativo
- If you want to prevent hair (including animal hair) from ending up all over your clothes, use a sponge: those used for the dishes are fine - they will capture most of the hair.
- When it seems to you that the washing machine is emitting an unpleasant odor, or there are some limescale stains, check the filter and clean it. Then you can start an empty wash at high temperature and putting the juice of only one lemon into the detergent compartment or directly into the washing machine drum.
- Has a garment been stained with ink? You can try to remove it with hair spray. Place the garment on a clean old rag, or kitchen paper, then spray the lacquer on the stain. With a soft cloth or an old towel, slightly moistened, dab the stain to make the ink disappear slowly, (the ink is "dissolved" by the lacquer). You will have to repeat the operation several times. This procedure works when the hairspray contains alcohol. If it doesn't, then you can use disinfectant alcohol with a cotton swab. After using this method, wash the garment as normal to remove any residual staining.
- When you want the laundry to come out softer, and especially when washing clothes or stuffed items, you can put 3 tennis balls in with the wash.
- If you have a wool sweater that has shrunk a little, you can try to restore it by hand washing it with warm water and hair conditioner.
- One way to avoid too many creases in fabrics while they are drying (in a dryer), is to add a few ice cubes to the dryer’s drum!
- Staying with the dryer as the subject, you can use crumpled tinfoil balls to reduce static electricity that builds up between fabrics. The balls will ensure that the fabrics retain an ideal texture to the touch, and you can reuse the same balls over and over again, and for up to two months (one month if you tumble dry often).
