Filthy oven grills? Use this popular TikTok remedy to clean them

Almost every part of the stove is constantly covered with grime with each use: splashes from sauce, liquids that boil over and run down the sides of pots and pans, spitting oil and even coffee drips that are left over in the coffee pot are all types of dirt and grease that often end up dirtying the stove top, the burners and also the grills.

And since the latter are frequently red-hot from heat of the flames during cooking, the grime on them often becomes encrusted and difficult to remove, unless you act immediately or clean them almost every day. What can you do when you have forgotten to clean the grills for a long time, then? You can use a simple and very popular method, which you can also see illustrated in a TikTok video.

The account of @estela_tipsshows how to take advantage of a much appreciated, quick remedy, for which you need:

  • A product for cleaning the stoves (these come in the form of a cream or a spray foam) or a powerful degreaser.
  • A large plastic bag.
  • A metallised sponge (steel wool).
  • Gloves.
  • Kitchen paper or a dish scrubber.

By now, you will have already guessed on how to proceed:

  • Remove the bulk of the dirt, if possible, with a little kitchen paper or with the dish scrubber.
  • Insert the grills one at a time inside the bag, so that it is large enough to contain them properly.
  • Wearing gloves, sprinkle the grills with the spray / cream product used to clean them, and if necessary, spread it everywhere with the help of your gloved hands. Doing this after putting the grill into the bag is a bit inconvenient but saves you from having to remove splashes of product from the sink. Alternatively, you can do this first in the sink and then insert the grill into the bag.
  • Let the product act for twenty minutes.
  • Remove the grills from the bag and, with the help of the steel wool, scrub them gently, in the sink, then rinse off.

If you don't have a bag or you find it uncomfortable to use, you can also use a large basin.

For those who do not have the time to wash the grills often, this is an easy and non- tiring method to make them look like new again, and it also works with cast iron grills. There are also those who put them in the dishwasher regularly, so not even having to scrub them with an abrasive sponge is necessary.
