Do you want to increase the value and prestige of your home? These are some of the most useful improvements you can make
Having a house means having to take care of it and keeping it in shape to the best of your ability - both to make sure that it is pleasant and liveable for us and, perhaps, to make sure that it does not depreciate over time in the real estate market. In fact, houses are important assets, which if necessary, can become a source of income if it becomes necessary to rent or sell them.
Increasing the value of your home is possible with a series of renovations and maintenance at various levels, such as those shown below:
Front door
The front door is the first thing you notice - it creates the first impression of the house. Taking care of its appearance by renewing it with a coat of paint is a small, obvious tip that can be done without incurring a large expense.
However, if it is necessary to get a replacement door, then the ones that in recent years have become increasingly popular are those that have glass panels built into the frame (and which lets in a lot of light and are really elegant).
The foyer at the entrance to the house is another area that should not be overlooked. To make the foyer (and also the rooms connected to it) brighter, you can use vasistas. Vasistas are a type of horizontal window which can be installed at the top of / above the door. Vasistas can also be installed in the walls that surround the entrance.
Windows
Old, worn window fixtures never make a good impression, and it is always worth investing in those that provide proper insulation and are easy to open and close. As for their appearance, trends seem to be moving towards, one-piece, sliding panel models rather than the more antiquated, static types made up of many smaller, square window panes.
Garage
If the garage faces outwards towards the street, changing the door (or at least repainting it), is an excellent idea to make the home immediately seem more attractive at first glance.
Kitchen
Replacing kitchen units is always a huge expense. If this is not possible, it is still a good idea to modernize the set-up by changing the color of the built-in cupboards, perhaps even changing the various handles and knobs too.
Again, adding to or changing the background and thinking about how to make the space available more efficient is something that creates a positive impression on anyone who ventures into the kitchen.
Bathroom
Adding to or changing the cladding of the tub / shower area, or laying a more modern floor (sometimes even on top of the existing one) are interventions that can also be carried out without too much expense.
An element of great appeal in the bathroom is a shower that is easily accessible, for example, one without prominent edges and steps that can obstruct the entrance.
Areas integrated into the bedroom
The master bedroom becomes much more attractive when it is possible to create space for an adjoining room or built-in niche: it could be the addition of an en suite bathroom or walk-in closet, for example ...
.. or even a wardrobe with an area set aside for the toilet.
Outside
Interventions of many types are possible in the garden and will change according to the space available, but something that can be useful and pleasant in any house with a garden or courtyard, is a patio / stoep. These are usually raised, wooden platforms with borders the living room and / or dining area. They are usually close to the house, and allow us to enjoy the outside at almost any time of the year.
