Try these ingenious tips to repair shoes, clothes or accessories on the fly
How many times does it happen that when we wear a dress or choose the favorite accessory we discover that it is actually broken or we are surprised by some malfunction that does not allow us to use that garment or object properly? We often decide to just leave them in a corner of the room waiting for them to be repaired, and it is not uncommon for them to remain there for a very long time.
In some cases, however, we can resort to some really ingenious DIY tips to be able to solve the problem or alleviate it without having to spend extra money: here are some popular tips on the net.
Sneakers often become covered with dark marks and stains - inevitable consequences of everyday use. An easy way to wash them is to put them in the washing machine, but doing this too often wears them out. So, if you just want to eliminate the dark marks from the rubber parts, you can use ... a rubber (eraser)! For an emergency remedy, you can try a regular pencil eraser, but you will get better results with a magic eraser (which is also used to remove marks from walls).
If, on the other hand, a pair of elegant shoes are damaged by some light scratches, you can make them almost invisible if by chance you have at home (or find in some shop) a nail polish of the same (or similar) shade as the shoe's uppers. It only takes a little, dabbed only on the scratch, to be applied with a little patience and maybe a little drop a little at edges with a sponge - like those used for nail art or make-up.
Whatever the reason for a sudden increase in waist circumference - perhaps even a pregnancy - if you want to continue wearing your most loved and comfortable trousers or jeans for a while longer, you can use an elastic band to hold / bridge the button to the buttonhole. Obviously, you will have to cover everything with a sweater or something similar, but at least you will not have to say goodbye to the pants or alter them irreversibly.
While waiting to replace or repair the zip that no longer works and tends to come undone, avoid unwanted incidents by using a small metal ring / hoop like those used on key rings: you will need to put through the hole in the slider lever, and then it you can hook the ring around the button at your waist to keep the zipper tightly closed.
When we wear clothes along with a deodorant, it often leaves visible marks on the fabric. Instead of changing your clothes, if you have a dryer sheet of fabric softener handy (Lenor or Bounce are common brands), you can use it to make the stain disappear before you leave!
Whether they are the legs of the trousers or the sleeves of a sweater, when they are too long you can roll them up and keep them in place using an elastic band: roll the arm or leg to the desired height, with the roll forming on the outside of the item. Then turn the roll over on itself along the edge of the leg or sleeve, and slipping it right into the elastic. This way, the leg or arm will stay exactly at the lengthe you want, and without unrolling!
If you have a ring that is too big for you now but you do not want to resize it, you can use a little silicone adhesive on the inner circumference: put a small amount on it, so that it reduces the inner circumference, let it dry and harden and then you can wear the ring again without the fear of losing it.
