Do you have a can of WD-40 at home? Discover the many ways you can use it for daily chores!
Anyone who does DIY projects most likely knows, even if in name only, WD-40. This abbreviation is the name of a lubricating and unlocking product originally used to repair engines and is used for many maintenance jobs.
Given its composition and the convenience of the container itself, it can also be used for various other tasks: it works against rust, protects against humidity, dissolves stubborn, greasy dirt stains (tar, glue and more). So you do not need to work only on the engines to be able to exploit its full potential: this product is a versatile, handy ally to keep to hand for many daily chores, and we describe a few of these below:
Use WD-40 to remove difficult stains such as lipstick, coffee, tea, ink or gravy: spray the product on the stains, let it act for twenty minutes and then rinse it off thoroughly using warm water. After that, wash the garment by hand (or by itself in the washing machine) with normal laundry soap. There are those who also use it in a similar way on stubborn stains on the carpet, such as those caused by spilled wine.
- Remove labels and stickers: whether they are glass jars or bottles, or even the surfaces of a car, a little bit of WD-40 can completely dissolve the glue and helps to remove the stickers without a problem.
- Prevent mirrors from misting: spray a small amount on the mirror, and spread it with a cloth in order to create a film on the mirror's surface - this it will create a patina that prevents condensation, so the mirror will not fog up.
- It is also able to eliminate limescale stains on glass, such as in the shower cubicle: clean the glass with a little of this spray, leaving it to act for a moment (do not to inhale the fumes) and then rub the area with a cloth, then rinsing off and drying well .
- If you have to shovel snow, sprinkle some WD-40 on the shovel itself - in this way you will prevent the snow sticking to the shovel and your work will be much easier.
- Remove chewing gum from material: when all the other usual remedies don't work, just spray a little WD-40 on the gum, let it act for a few moments and you can then remove it easily.
- Waterproofing your shoes: Do you have canvas shoes that you want to waterproof? Fill them with newspaper, then spray WD-40 all over the uppers and let it dry. When they are completely dry, remove the newspaper from the inside of the shoes and they will be ready for wet weather!
