Perfectly folded fitted sheets: discover this popular TikTok method
Sheets with elasticated corners are really a great help, as they literally cling under the mattress and can stay in place much longer than traditional sheets. There are no excess wrinkles or flapping material that pulls out and reveals the mattress: you get to sleep on a smooth and comfortable surface with elasticated corners sheets.
The problem comes when you have to fold these types of sheets after washing them: there are types that return to standard angles if the elastic is removed, but in most cases you have to adapt to fold the sheet as it comes ...unless an easy method is used that allows the entire bottom sheet to be folded into a small, flat, compact, rectangular package. We describe below just how to do this:
This is a method that is also illustrated in a TikTok video that has become extremely popular:
- Spread the entire sheet out on the bed, so that it has the elastic corners facing up. Try to straighten out the sheet as best you can to eliminate any creases as much as possible.
- Fold the sheet back on itself. You will need to take one of the corners on the shorter side, the one next to you, and tuck them in and under the pair of corners on the opposite side.
- At that point, go around to the other side of the bed, so that you face the side that was previously the longest. Then fold the entire rectangle you have formed into three parts: that is, bringing the two side flaps to the center and overlapping them, so as to form an orderly strip without flaps that stick out from anywhere.
- Fold that strip on itself several times, until you have a compact rectangle.
And that's all it takes - folded like this, the sheet will beeasier to store, with no bulges and flaps sticking out from the sides. In short, this little trick that can be learned in a very short time and it will give you a lot of satisfaction by being able to fold with ease these types of sheets (which can be notorious for being difficult to deal with). Doing so will also make the sheet even more easily put into the wardrobes, especially if you also use the other trick of putting each piece of a bed linen set inside one of the set's pillow cases.
