Decorate the garden in an original way and by spending very little: find out how to do it with plastic crates

Sturdy and spacious plastic crates - those that are often used for the transport of bottles and other heavy objects - are a great resource in the world of DIY projects: depending on their shape, they can in fact be exploited to create many pieces of furniture. These creations can turn out to be both unique and useful objects.

These DIY projects can be undertaken to furnish both the house and the garden: especially outside, in fact, the robust nature of plastic crates - which in addition to being tough, are also waterproof and weatherproof - allows you to create furniture of many different types. And you can create planters or other garden accessories of various kinds. Get inspiration from the ideas listed below:

To create a multipurpose stool, just add a flat, sanded wooden plank (cut to size) to their bottom sides. These can then serve as seats, tables or even steps to allow you to reach a higher position (like the upper shelves of a bookcase). And by turning them upside down, they will become useful containers again.

You could literally set up an entire living room, with the addition of cushions, and a place on the balcony or a spot on the lawn then becomes the place to relax with company.

Instead of a simple wooden top, you could affix two hinges and two boards so that you can lift one of the boards and make into a backrest. You will need a folding arm to help keep the backrest seated in just the right place.

Several boxes of the same size, mounted on top of each other and with the openings facing outwards, topped by a large wooden board: here is a comfortable outdoor table with space for storing objects underneath on the shelves.

Crates are also great for converting into planters.

To do this, it will be necessary to line the internal walls, including the bottom, with coconut fiber panels, as is done with hanging baskets.

In this way you can use the large plastic crates to plant flowers in them and more. They can be placed on supports of all kinds, or even on walls!

Or maybe you can consider creating a whole structure of crates only, of which only the uppermost will contain the plants and the others will act as supports.

And by mounting them together on top of each other, they can also create dividing walls, which can be filled with plants as you wish.

The more robust and resistant ones can be converted into convenient mobile trolleys, just add wheels and a handlebar.

And there are also ideas for making wheelbarrow-shaped planters out of them.

Have you ever thought of using them like large bricks to build an arch in the garden?
