Irina Cosarciuc – DIY Cute Pom-Pom Easter Chicks
To create a pompom, you will need to have two cardboard circles (with a hole in the middle of them) of the same size and a pair of scissors. After wrapping the circles with the wool (by passing the yarn through the center hole), you just need to cut all the wool wrapping around the outside of the circles of cardboard by cutting right through the yarn with the scissors. At that point, wrap and tie another piece of the same thread between the two pieces of cardboard to secure the pompom. Remove the pieces of paper and you will find yourself holding a soft pompom in the color you want.
The dimensions of the pompom can be changed according to the diameter of the cardboard circles you use at the start. And you can also then cut (almost shave) the wool ends in order to obtain an egg shape, for example!
By joining two pompoms together (even those with different colors), you can replicate the body of adorable bunnies, which you will perhaps finish off by adding felt ears.
Chicks and bunnies of any color can be customized with various details, such as googly eyes.
There are those who put pompoms on a wooden clothes peg, which are then painted and decorated to become the heads and legs of various animals such as sheep, pigs, chickens and more.
And you can use this technique to create cute little birds, perfect for Easter decorations.
Paired with an egg carton, colorful birds made from wool pompoms are very cute.
And why not make a whole wreath with colorful pompoms? One of them (which is white and in contrast to the other colors used), could become the bunny who is diving into all this colorful softness.
There are also those who manage to use pompoms to create works of art using wreaths as a framework!
