DIY slippers: You can create warm, comfortable and fun ones using crochet
When we are at home it is nice to pamper our feet by wearing warm and soft slippers, which we can walk around our homes in. It is a practical choice that also helps us to keep the floor cleaner - and for those with delicate floors or carpets on the surfaces, it is a real life-saver.
And if we also have the habit of asking our guests take off their shoes, it is always good to have a few pairs of slippers ready for them to use, and which are, of course, clean and in good condition. So here how making these with your own hands could be a useful, economic and nice idea. A useful technique to create any shape and size you want is crochet: the ideas are numerous, and below we offer you some fun ones - suitable for children and more!
Some cute bunnies complete with fluffy ears, and black buttons for their eyes. For projects like these you will need a thick and durable yarn, like a warm wool one.
If the bunnies are perfect for spring, you could wear fox-shaped slippers in the fall. They have eyes and noses created with black thread, but the ears are applied in relief, and on the heel there is also the iconic fox tail (folded on one side). They are also really adorable as a gift idea!
There is no age limit to be enchanted by those little creatures we know as the Minions from the Despicable Me movie universe. And with their simple shape, they adapt easily to become the theme for decorating a myriad of objects, crocheted slippers included!
Laughter is guarenteed if someone in the house shows up with crocodile-shaped slippers: these are in fact long slippers, so they actually fit a bit like boots. The uniqueness of this design is that the crocodile has its jaws wide open... as if it were eating the wearer's legs!
And the same thing applies to shark-shaped slippers. You could even change the colors a bit to turn it into an orca (black and white)!
And what about slippers that transform the feet into those of some monster using bright colors and lots of claws? You can go wild with color combinations, and these slippers are also comfortable for the cold period, as they cover the ankles (a bit like a pair of socks).
There are a lot of crochet patterns available, and they can be easily adapted to anyone's foot size. Another convenience they offer is that these slippers can be easily washed in the washing machine - and having no glued parts, there is not even the risk that continuous washing will end up ruining them (as happens often with other types of footwear).
