Worn out or old fashioned wooden chairs ... Transform them in a unique way to furnish your home imaginatively!
In furnishing a house, sometimes we find ourselves with pieces we received as an inheritance (or through some similar manner). As a result, we can sometimes find our homes furnished with unwanted and/or mismatching and/or cheap furnishing items that, in the end, become even more worn out and are not really very nice to have around.
Among these items, there could be wooden chairs. When they are damaged in such a way that they are no longer usable, or when they are still serviceable but we no longer want them in our homes, they can be used for creative DIY projects rather than used just for firewood. Some of these DIY projects are shown below:
Those chairs whose backrest was made of horizontal struts and rods can become an original hook rack for accessories, using hangers to attach the items to the rods.
But if the backrest struts and rods were vertical, you could flip the backrest sideways and get the same result!
One of the most popular DIY projects is to separate the seat from the legs. The legs which form part of the backrest then can be used effectively. The backrest (with the rear legs) can be turned upside down and fixed to a wall (perhaps using a piece of the discarded chair for the wall bracket). In this way, it becomes a towel hanger in the bathroom, for example.
In DIY projects, chairs are very often cut in half horizontally (for example, to make a stool from a chair). But an unusual idea is to cut them vertically. In this way, they can become shelves to be put to on display, and are also excellent for accomodating flower pots.
You don't see this kind of tricycle - made from an old wooden chair - every day.
An old fashioned, vintage baby's high chair can become a compact bookcase.
Sturdy, robust backrests with elegant designs and patterns: it is a shame to throw these away if they are not damaged, and so the idea of using them as DIY table legs is one possible future use for them.
On the outside, a rustic, old fashioned backrest can become the alternative to a door panel on which to attach a wreath to decorate the front of your home.
Once the backrest has been detacted or removed, these chairs become comfortable stools or coffee tables.
Do you only save the legs? If so, and they are aesthetically pleasing to look at, one way you can use them is to decorate your other DIY creations, for example, to enhance a windchime or a mobile.
If you want to get rid of an entire, matching set of chairs, they could be used to circle a tree trunk with a DIY bench.
And if there are only two chairs from the set that are still in good condition, you can create adorable seats and benches for the outdoors.
