Make adorable Easter decorations by hand and by recycling!
Decorating the house for Easter is often a much loved tradition, and every culture, country and family has its own customs. From religious symbols, to those derived from many different cultural traditions, there are many figures that become the subject of Easter decorations.
Doves, bunnies, eggs and more are just an example of these icons. And by resorting to using simple, unwanted objects, recycled with imagination and creativity, it is possible to create many ornaments that replicate these classical, iconic Easter characters. Check out the ideas below to make your home more festive for this holiday:
If you want to set up an Easter tree, or even if you just intend to take advantage of some decoration using of branches or flowers that you already have in your home, you can use three-dimensional paper eggs as ornaments.
And you can turn them into stylized bunnies too by simply adding some paper ears on top.
You could also use paper doves or swallows in a similar way, which would look good either hanging in the windows or suspended over the dining room table.
If you like the stylized approach, you can transform simple wooden blocks, perhaps left over from some DIY job, into bunnies by adding a few simple details (like ears, whiskers, a nose, etc).
If you want to decorate your home with playful trimmings and garlands, just turn simple white wool (knitting wool, for example) into multiple pompoms to mimic the stylised shape of white bunnies.
Even a wreath to hang on the outside of your main door or on a wall can be shaped like a fluffy bunny.
Are you going to give out some gifts at Easter, or maybe some sweets? Brown paper bags can easily be turned into bunnies, complete with a pompom tail (made from a ball of cotton wool, or similar).
To give out candy or chocolate eggs, you can use stylised spice packets.
Do you enjoy the tradition of hunting for decorated, hidden Easter eggs? Decorate them with lace and trimmings - this way they will be delightfully fashionable as shabby chic eggs.
And when it comes to the baskets to collect the eggs in, you can transform metal cans into baskets with the help of wooden clothespins.
Do not throw away old, cracked eggshells that still have a recognisable shape: with moss or lichen and a few feathers, they can become a beautiful garland to hang on a door or wall.
For a more playful garland, however, you can use discarded Kinder Surprise containers to mimic eggs and to hide an Easter surprise inside (like sweets).
Happy Easter!
